Welke acht je op één kabel wil aansluiten kan je aanduiden om ze reeds te verbinden met een lijntje. Dit lijntje wordt dan later ook de kabel waarmee ze verbonden zullen worden. Een voorbeeld hiervan zie je op deze tekening. Dit kan je doen met een gewone slijpschijf of een dubbele slijper. Voor het uitkappen kan je best een beitelhamer gebruiken. Eens dit is gebeurd kan je de inbouwdoosjes (of “potjes”) inmetselen. Omdat mortel niet erg snel droogt kan je hiervoor best een snelgips gebruiken. Wanneer je hier nog nooit mee hebt gewerkt, maar er dan zeker niet te veel ineens. Zoals de naam al aanduidt, droogt het snel, waardoor het ook snel niet meer bewerkbaar wordt. Nu kunnen we echt starten met de elektrische installatie Hiervoor is het makkelijkst om voorbedrade buizen te gebruiken. Dit zijn buizen die je in alle richtingen kan plooien, waar de kabels reeds in zitten. Je moet ze er achteraf dus niet meer doortrekken. Deze zijn tegenwoordig in elke doe-het-zelf zaak te koop. Vloerverwarming en wandverwarming werken eigenlijk op de zelfde manier. De gebruikte cv-ketel is het zelfde, en de plaatsing is dit nagenoeg ook. Voordelen van dit soort verwarming is dat het aangenaam aanvoelt door de gelijkmatige stralingswarmte, het geen ruimte in beslag neemt en het water in de leidingen kan lager worden gehouden dan bij radiatoren of convectoren. Hierdoor kan je zonder problemen gebruik maken van zeer energiezuinige verwarmingsketels, zoals een warmtepomp, zonneboiler of een condensatieketel. Vaak wordt vloer en/of wandverwarming gebruikt ook in combinatie met radiatoren of convectoren hoewel vloer en wandverwarming ook kan instaan als hoofdverwarming van de woning. Het duurt echter wel redelijk lang voordat een ruimte is opgewarmd met muur of vloerverwarming. Je moet er ook rekening mee houden eens de vloerverwarming geplaatst is, het leggen van isolerende platen of een tapijt, de wamte zal tegen houden. Bij een wandverwarming plaats je om die zelfde reden ook best geen objecten tegen de muur die voorzien is van warmte.
